From the church esplanade, there is a superb view of the Bishorn and Weisshorn, the two 4000m peaks that separate the Val d'Anniviers from the Zermatt valley.
Saint-Georges church was built in 1950-1952 to designs by the controversial architect Jean-Marie Ellenberger (1913-1988). Marking a sharp break with tradition, it is well worth a visit for its multicoloured lights and highly unusual, elegant architecture.
Chermignon d'En-Haut has not sacrificed all its character for the sake of modernity. Move away from the main road and wander through the narrow streets of the old village to rediscover the authenticity of the Valais.
