Like its neighbours, it is a south-facing wine-growing village with beautiful views over the hillsides, the plain and the Valais Alps.
Like many Valais villages, Miège has become a residential extension of the plain. As long ago as 2000, two-thirds of the working population were employed in Sierre or the surrounding area.
However, the village has retained much of its charm, with many traditional old houses and an area of 120 hectares of vineyards, where mainly Chasselas and Pinot Noir are grown, as well as a number of specialities.
For hikers, it is an ideal starting point for shady walks along the "bisses" (irrigation channels) and in the Planige pine forest above the village.
