Mount Salève is one of the favourite leisure destinations for the people of Geneva thanks to its proximity to the city. There is climbing, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, paragliding, hang-gliding, caving, etc.

The easiest way to get there is by cable car from Etrembières, a few dozen metres from the Swiss border. CAUTION: since September 2021, the cable car is closed, undergoing major renovation work.

The reopening is planned for May 2023 and the new top station will include a panoramic restaurant, a 20m high climbing wall, a 360° viewpoint, a museum area, a botanical garden and a seminar room.

During our 2022 "Switzerland Tour outside Switzerland", we only stopped at the bottom of the mountain and shot some not very interesting panoramas... We will go back another time!
