Musée Romain de Nyon

The foundations of the basilica host the Roman Museum, which showcases the archaeological remains from the Roman period in and around Nyon. Tuesday-Sunday and holidays 10am-5pm (Apr-Oct), 2-5pm (Nov-Mar).

The foundations of the basilica, part of the Roman forum, discovered in 1974, have since 1979 contained the Roman Museum which preserves and showcases the archaeological remains from the Roman period in Nyon and its district.

Unilke other archaeological site museums it has been laid out below ground level in the actual foundations of the basilica - the administrative building erected in the 1st century AD as part of the forum of Noviodunum.

The masonry, which has been preserved up to a height of two metres, provides a setting for the Museum and is its most valuable feature.
